My Husband Loves me!

Today, he surprised me by getting me this! Go ahead, I'll wait for you to look.
Oh, that doesn't mean much to you.

Well, you see, it goes with this. I'll wait again, go ahead.

That was my wonderful Christmas present from him. It came with a basic lens that is being used for many wonderful pictures that you've seen. But now, I'll be able to get even better pictures.

For example. With my first lens I got this shot of the pond that our balcony over looks.

There is a birdhouse in the distance that I have circled to show you just how wonderful today's present is.

With the first lens, this is the close up shot I could get of the pond/birdhouse.

I've still got it circled for you. It's there, way in the distance. And just for reference these two pictures are the same views I was able to get from my first digital camera - a Nikon Coolpix.

Now, the new lens starts where the first lens ends.
See, the birdhouse is still in the distance circled for you.

Now, the new lens will get me this shot.

I think you can see the birdhouse there. I don't need to circle it.

I'm so excited. I can't wait to go downtown and get new exciting pictures. That will have to happen though when my family is here starting on the 12th.

I'll also be able to get good pics of the planes that go by. I'm really excited, but disappointed that I have to work tonight and must now go to bed to prepare for that.

Anyway. Just wanted to share my present with you all. I'll probably talk to you Saturday when I awaken from the land of the lost from night shift.

I just got a Nikon SLR digital camera about 2 months ago aren't they just perfectly scrumptios?!? I have that very lens, it's pretty sweet too, the winter pictures on my weblog were taken with that lens and my other zoom lens.

oh wait I take it back, I have the 18-70mm DX lens and a Nikkor 70-300mm AF lens (not DX).

I would have gotten the 70-300 AF if it hadn't been for the fact that the DX makes it easier for my husband to use the camera if he wants to. (He doesn't have as much interest as I do in the camera so I try to make it easier for hime when he does want to use it). I'm sure as Nikkon makes more I'll be getting them!

I would have gotten the DX if it weren't for the price tag ;-)

There were some other minor pros that swayed me, for one thing I liked that it went up to 300mm, but mostly - I got a package deal with a spiffy camera bag, and extended service coverage for my camera body with the lens, so the price (and extras) were the clincher. I've often wished now that I had the 55-200 DX lens, the 70-300 - in my amature opinion - is a lovely lens, but too much zoom to just leave on the camera body for general photography.

Guess I should start saving again ;-)
