2008 Crafting Goals...

Ah, yes! Two posts in one day, both about crafting. Needless to say, this is the most in advance I've thought about my crafting but I realized this year as I sat down with my lofty expectations for Christmas, and being unable to complete one project I had said I would and countless others fluttering around my head, that I needed to be better organized for next year. And in downtime where I've been unable to craft, I have come up with a list of things I would like to accomplish by December of next year.

I'll post in now and we'll see how well I do. Maybe it will be fun to watch me get things checked off and change my mind.

So, by 12/2008 I would like to:
  • finish convertible and other ufo's that I have
  • make several stitch marker sets
  • make Bacteria and other things for the lab techs/infection control people close to me
  • make several (at least four) baby items to have on hand for gifts to those around me bringing children into their lives
  • make the Feather and Fan Shawl from a Gathering of Lace (that's just the link for you to see the pattern)
  • make at least two tops for me to wear
  • make a blanket for James
  • make a purse for Sarah
  • make several more (at least six) blankets/bedspreads/afghans for gifts next year.
  • make a shawl for a special person
  • cross stitch a pattern for my Godfather
  • cross stitch a kit I've had in my crafting supplies for years
  • make an interesting bead loom project
  • grow adept at socks to have them as traveling projects
  • make more scarves as traveling projects
Think that's enough? I hope so, let's see if I can do it!

Very agressive list -- I have faith that you can do it if you "plan your work and work your plan" a certain project each month -- some suggestions -

I have been making stitch markers out of "clasps" for beading and charms found (both) at michaels or a bead store - quick and easy.

I have heard the Baby Surprise Jacket from Elizabeth Zimmer is very easy and quick (haven't tried it yet... have pattern and yarn though)

A few of years ago I crocheted a couple of afagans with the size K needle and 2 threads of yarn - eyelash (which you can pick up at Michaels right now for a song on clearance) and a fuzzy thinnish yarn that was soft (like mohair). I held them together and did a double crochet back and forth. They looked and felt really nice and not cheep but where quick to accomplish.

Anyways, just some thoughts. I too want to start early 2008 so I have more accomplished and less stress next year --- Merry Christmas, Karrie
